HJC XS helmet for Pillion Passenger - Perfect!

Purchased a specific HJC XS helmet for my partner, the sizing was impossible to find in the UK and luckily Louis had some in stock were able to ship to us. Arrived in perfect condition despite the long distance and would recommend if you need any gear shipped to the UK (just be aware of any added shipping fees - we can blame the UK Government for that!)

Always a Pleasure

Am not sure so cannot remember if there is any import duty on larger items via Louis. On smaller items there is none, and Louis shipping from the EU is no more expensive than UK shipping even for larger items like fork oil and fork springs. Goods usually arrive within a week including the order date which is cool as often UK vendors can take a week just to get around to shipping.

I ordered several items from Louis Moto and was pleased with the products themselves—quality was good, and I will only need to exchange the jacket for a different size. Unfortunately, the overall experience has been let down by very poor communication and a still‑unresolved refund for the UK customs charge. I submitted proof of the customs payment on 20 February and was initially told the refund was being processed. However, weeks went by with no update, no acknowledgement of my follow‑up messages, and no indication of progress until I chased the issue multiple times. The only explanation I eventually received was a vague reference to a “major system change” affecting refunds—something I struggle to understand or accept given how long this has dragged on. As of mid‑March, I am still waiting for the refund I was told would be issued, and communication has been slow, inconsistent, and largely reactive. This has unfortunately put me off placing future orders, which is a shame because the products themselves are perfectly good. If Louis Moto can address their customer service responsiveness and resolve refund issues in a timely manner, they would offer a much better experience. But based on my recent interaction, I cannot currently recommend them.

Great price and customer service

Great price and when I experienced an issue with the ‘extra’ customs fee that the UK has imposed on EU retailers, Besma at Detlev Louis gave amazing customer service. Explained the issue, advised how to proceed and once I’d supplied the necessary information, processed the refund for the customs fee in a timely manner. Couldn’t recommend them more!

Ordered from the UK via the website - a dryer for motorcycle helmet/gloves/boots. After ordering, I was very impressed with the level of communication. Delivery was fast, I received the goods four days after dispatch. The item is for my grandson for Christmas so it hasn't been tested yet. Worth noting that, if buying for use in the UK, an adaptor plug is required however these are reasonably and readily available via an online company

Non-existent customer service, duty is not refunded.

I ordered a few items from Louis' German website for delivery to the UK. The site promised that all duties paid will be refunded. That made buying from Louis a cheaper option than UK sellers. However, the order itself took weeks to arrive with absolutely no update on the order status at all. The order process didn't even inform me that I'll need to pay £125 in duties before the items would be delivered by Royal Mail. Well, I had to pay it and I requested the refund on 8th April. Today is 19th of May, and still haven't received any update or the refund after 5 weeks later. So, to summarise, buying from Louis has been a completely shambolic experience and I wish I had bought the items from the UK retailers; it would have been cheaper and quicker.

Excellent customer support

I was honestly very impressed with the level of customer support! I have ordered this jacket to the UK which I know would incur customs charges. When I got my bill from Royal Mail I emailed customer support and got a reply in about an hour, a couple of hours later I was already forwarded to the accounting department. Two days later I had the jacket delivered by Royal Mail, but even earlier in the day my refund went into my account which I paid from. Hats off to Louis honestly! I also love the jacket!

Koso Coin Temperature Gauge Red display

I ordered a Koso Coin Temperature Gauge with a red display—virtually impossible to find in the UK—but thankfully Louis in Germany had it in stock. The ordering process was smooth and efficient, and the package arrived in the UK within a week (most of the delay was due to UK customs). Excellent communication and very professional service throughout. I wouldn’t hesitate to order from them again. Highly recommended.

Found this on the Web couldn't find a cheaper seller in the UK even after paying P & P it was cheaper to buy from Louis Motorrad great company to deal with would have no hesitation using again.

Excellent value so long as you catch it on the right day. I found the price varied between £237 and £282 from one day to the next on google search which is way beyond exchange rate fluctuation.....and use your credit card to pay rather than PayPal which has a more expensive exchange rate. Items purchased were considerably cheaper than UK price. Delivery was quick considering the package came from Germany and had to go through customs. As promised by Louis Moto, customs charges were refunded in full. Would purchase again from Louis.

Great company to deal with

Great customer contact, fast delivery, all customs charges refunded in full as promised on their website within a week of notifying them of the amount. If you live in the UK you don’t have to worry about that, pay the customs charge promptly so you can get your parcel, let Louis Moto how much you paid and send screenshots of the proof of payment and it’s all sorted.

I am sure the item is fantastic. I just have not seen it because I have yet to receive the order. It got stuck at UK customs and I had to pay an additional £50 in VAT + custom duty fees, despite having paid VAT at the origin already. I wish you would warn your UK customers that additional fees were due. The total cost made importing from you no longer cost effective. The delay in delivery meant that when it will finally arrive, it will then have to be shipped to a different address at my own cost, as I will no longer be at the address I had given initially. overall, a net loss of both time and money.

5* but UK customs can't read the GB VAT was paid as shown on the paperwork. However there is no phone number or web site to challenged them! My words a bunch of incompetent people. (possibly non British workers!). Louis gave reimburse the money but the customs duty was 0.35 pence plus the vat and £12 for the privilege! Bastards!

I couldn’t have been more impressed with the service I received from Louis! In fact, it was probably one of my best online buying experiences of 2025! I received wonderful customer service with super quick responses to my enquiries and all to my advantage. Louis offered unbeatable value for money on the 3 Wera Advent Calendars which I ordered but I was slightly sceptical that they would cover any customs charges incurred. However, true to their website pledge, I was reimbursed with the full amount - which would not have been necessary pre Brexit (Nightmare!!!!) My experience with Louis this year means that I will have no hesitation in buying again and highly recommending!

Very good shop

Never shopped here before. Bought two items from this shop. The one receive were the LEATT adventure Dritour trousers. Fanstastic quality fabric and craftsmanship. Fit well and support in the important places of potential injury. Very impressed with them. Bought from UK and was worried about custom charges but shop did what they promised and paid back the amount. I would have given 5 stars but found that customer services were slow but overall friendly. Waiting for second order to arrive. Would buy again for here.

What attracted me to Loius was the price, even after allowing for taxes etc it was still a very good price , THEN I noticed their guarantee that prices included any taxes etc so I was extremely pleased. Delivery even across the xmas period was rapid, less than 5 days
