I love my beanbag but was very disappointed at needing to fill it myself from the bag of beans. I expected to open the box and have something I could sit on straight away. I was also disappointed at the assumption that I live with someone, or have someone I can ask to help me with the task, as the instructions advise against tackling the task alone. When friends come to visit I don't ask them to work. It's a good thing this is a type of seat, because after several hours spent filling it, I really needed to sit down! You gave some reasons why it's done this way, but I would rather have paid extra and had it pre-filled. You could offer this as an option.

Upon delivery, the box was left outside our 2nd floor flat. With a trail of polystyrene balls all the way through our block. The fact that this is self assembly is hidden in the features section of the product and I feel this should be highlighted more clearly on the page. The bag for our polystyrene balls was broken upon arrival and once we had put all the balls inside the beanbag, I don’t feel there is enough to fill it. So I don’t know how many had fallen out in transit, but I could count more than 100 on the trail up to our flat. I feel mislead when purchasing this. It’s a messy job and not clearly stated that it self assembly. I really hope our niece likes this and it’s worth the aggravation of putting together and apologising to our neighbours for the mess caused by its delivery. I would love to know how that bag of beans is supposed to fill the entire bean bag. It’s saggy. See pics.

Nightmare assembly

The beanbag, once assembled, is very comfortable. However, as other reviewers have experienced, it is not clear from the website that you are required to fill it yourself (and similar to another reviewer, I did not have a second person available to help which made the task pretty hard). The filling gets everywhere and is a nightmare to clear up. This is not helped by the fact the box it comes in has holes and some of the filling will inevitably come out the bottom no matter how careful you are. Again, similar to other reviewers, insufficient filling was provided - I bought 2x beanbags and 1x footstool/pouffe and ended up using the filling meant for the pouffe to fill one of the beanbags so that it was sufficiently full / sturdy. I don't see why they can't ship the beanbag ready-made so assume it's a cost-cutting measure at the company's end. If you're willing to spend an hour and a half bent over with a dustpan and brush chasing tiny filling balls round the floor then the final product is good (provided you overfill with stuffing meant for e.g. a pouffe which you then won't be able to use). Otherwise I would recommend finding an alternative supplier who will ship ready-made!

I thought for the price I wouldn't have to fill myself!

I thought for the price I wouldn't have to fill the bean bag myself, which was absolutely night mare..& when finished there was more beans on the floor then in the bag..so I actually gave up & though it away..iv have a new one which came filled.

Very small for the money

May be my fault for not reading properly but for £35 this is tiny and very annoying putting the balls in yourself with no instruction for how to do it

Very poor customer service

The item arrived but it did not work for the space so we asked for a return. No-one answered the phone so we emailed. After a few days we received return instructions. The item was returned and delivered on 1 February 2024 but we have not had our refund. The phone is not answered and emails are not answered.

Shoddy Experience

> The plastic bags that the beans arrived in are not fit for purpose. The bags end up opening to an area 2-3x the size of the cardboard box you're supposed to pour them into - as a result, it is impossible to get all of the beans to pour out into the box and not spill on the floor, which due to their size take a long time to clean up > A lot of the beans also stick to the inside of the bag even when you turn them upside down because of how light they are - again, no mention of this anywhere and causes a lot of frustration when trying to get them out > Instructions are condescendingly brief and not helpful. The arrogance to suggest that an entire mammoth bean bag and footstool will be filled & ready in the time it takes a kettle to boil is disingenuous and a tad insulting. > No instructions around what to do with filling the cuddle cushion - appreciate it's not particularly complicated, but as someone who has never used one before, it is not clear whether this should also be filled with beans. > The filling that the cuddle cushion came in was wrapped incredibly tightly in about 30 layers of Sellotape - simply unwrapping this took about 15-20 minutes, and even then there was no mention anywhere as to what it was > Having a requirement to use the cardboard box that the item came in as part of the assembly process NEEDS to be clearly mentioned on the box itself - as someone who lives in a small house & doesn't have room for cardboard, I took apart all of the boxes & threw them away ahead of assembling the beanbag, meaning I had to use a much smaller box I already owned as part of the assembly process. I have never ordered something that had the cardboard box as an essential item in the assembly process - this needs to be re-thought (maybe you could make the width of the plastic bags slightly less than 2.5m so the beans poured better out of it, and you wouldn't even need the box to decant into!) > Not a direct fault of the vendor, but the delivery company used (I believe it was DPD) delivered to the wrong house, and simply left all the boxes outside in my neighbour's front garden. This is not normally a problem if it is a small parcel, but not a good look to have 6x huge cardboard boxes being dumped on your neighbour's property. Given your 'environmental' requirement to have the person make the beanbag themselves & therefore have multiple large cardboard boxes as part of the delivery - you need to ensure that your delivery partner recognizes the importance of ensuring these boxes a) go to the correct address and b) are at least delivered to the person's house instead of being dumped in their front garden.

Smaller than expected by photos. Also having to fill the chair yourself with foam balls was a nightmare. Paid for item then contacted to say they didnt have the material we ordered.

Two cushions were completely the wrong size and I needed the right measurements and they our to heavy for me to bring to a pick up collection point and would cost me 20 pounds in taxis to goto collection point abd I have agoraphobia problems as well and I am severely disabled brain damage mental health and my pysical health these cushions were bought for my pysical health health and the sizes needed to be what was stated on my purchases and weren't haven't been well and wasn't able to send them back also I don't think they will last to long although the colour and the outside material our cool and go perfectly with my pecan leather suite and there purple pom pom colour there is 4 items I have not used tried them once and there back in the box in a spare room

Bubble sofa bean bag and footstool

Nice quality, but I was disappointed I had to purchase an extra 6cu feet of filling (from a cheaper company) to get the bean bag looking anything like the pictures on the website. A sneaky trick to extract an extra £50 for additional filling. **UPDATE** There are approx 15 other reviews from people with the same issue...you how much is required, so just ship the correct amount in the first place!

We always try to send the correct amount of filling. However, this is not always easy as we might have a different idea of the fill level for best comfort than our customers do. Depending on the type of beanbag they need to be filled to 60% - 70% as they are soft furniture, but every customer is different, and we try to suit every customer needs. Thank you for your feedback.

Regret this purchase. Does not sit as represented in pictures, and high backed is a misrepresentation. The mess it made filling the thing as it comes separate from the polystyrene beads was a right pain. Bought as a Xmas present and now have to replace. Would send it back, but no longer have the box.

Infuriating delivery service.

I was very disappointed that the courier used was Evri. Evri have a poor reputation for reliability and honesty, and in true form I received false attempted delivery notifications and the package was delivered three days after they advised it was out for delivery that day. The package was ultimately delivered and left in an unsafe place, causing me to have to contact a relative to drive to my address to retrieve it. I would not order from Big Bertha again unless they ceased using this rogue courier service, they may be cheaper than other companies, but that’s not looking after the customer is it?

It was not made clear that you had to fill the chair yourself. The box was slightly damaged and the balls went everywhere. I see no reason why it doesn't come pre-filled as both the filling and outer shell were delivered together in the same box. With this product you are basically buying yourself a problem.....

I should be paid labour and inconvenience costs by the supplier.

I ordered a bean bag. Little did I know on placing the order that I would be required to "make" the bean bag by filling the bag with millions of styrofoam balls (the eponymous beans) most of which ended up on the kitchen floor. Never again. In future I suggest you stuff your beanbag.

‘LARGE’ ????

I ordered a large footstool. The quality of the fabric was nice but if that was large I wouldn’t like to see small and I also didn’t appreciate it hasn’t been filled and you’ve to do it yourself.
