The soundproof system has been very successful, fulfilling all the requirements for our needs… virtually no sound is coming through either side of the partition now, for relatively little effort. We got some great advice and assistance in what to use and how to install it for maximum effect from the team there. I would recommend this product and the service.

Soundproofing didn’t work in the slightest. Pretty simple to install but hasn’t made any difference to the noise element of things can still hear conversations from flat below at the same volume as before. Waste of money.

Good End Result but Quality Control poor

This is my second purchase and although pleased with the end result, I was not happy with the amount of extra work I needed to do, due to quality control deficiencies of the materials. The Prosound Reverso mat fiber board was 59.5cm wide whereas the membrane the other side was 60cm, hence a gap between the fiber boards, so the membrane had to be trimmed. The sound mat 2 was another issue, about half of the mats had membrane that was not aligned up with the foam. Generally I got round this by positioning these in corners and edges, but some needed adjustment. The edge risers should have been 6 mm thick, they were 9 mm or more. The glue holding the membrane to the hardboard type material had expanded, that made the thickness well over 1 cm. These should have been inspected and rejected before they were sent out to me. When I raised this matter with soundproofing store, they were very helpful and agreed to send out more, however, they did say that the ones they had did not meet specification of 6 mm, and we’re more like 8 mm. When I receive the second lot, I had to plane them down to 6mm. The other problem with the second delivery was that they were 3 mm wider at 31 mm rather than the 28 mm of the first delivery. In theory that should not make much difference, but as I had laid the bulk of the flooring, leaving a 28 mm gap, the 31 mm new risers would not fit in, so again I had to make an adjustment, sometimes trimming the mat back, and sometimes trimming the riser. I would say that I am happy with the end product, it reduces airborne sound pretty well between our basement and lounge. It gives a nice feel underneath your feet, and also reduces impact noise. However, Delivering materials, that do not meet specification and causes the customer more work needs to be avoided, and could easily be avoided with inspections of materials at the manufacturing stage and before delivery. I hope that the Soundproofing Store can resolve these problems, because the end result is good, but as a customer I would be looking elsewhere in the future for any further soundproofing requirements.
