I love my beanbag but was very disappointed at needing to fill it myself from the bag of beans. I expected to open the box and have something I could sit on straight away. I was also disappointed at the assumption that I live with someone, or have someone I can ask to help me with the task, as the instructions advise against tackling the task alone. When friends come to visit I don't ask them to work. It's a good thing this is a type of seat, because after several hours spent filling it, I really needed to sit down! You gave some reasons why it's done this way, but I would rather have paid extra and had it pre-filled. You could offer this as an option.

Upon delivery, the box was left outside our 2nd floor flat. With a trail of polystyrene balls all the way through our block. The fact that this is self assembly is hidden in the features section of the product and I feel this should be highlighted more clearly on the page. The bag for our polystyrene balls was broken upon arrival and once we had put all the balls inside the beanbag, I don’t feel there is enough to fill it. So I don’t know how many had fallen out in transit, but I could count more than 100 on the trail up to our flat. I feel mislead when purchasing this. It’s a messy job and not clearly stated that it self assembly. I really hope our niece likes this and it’s worth the aggravation of putting together and apologising to our neighbours for the mess caused by its delivery. I would love to know how that bag of beans is supposed to fill the entire bean bag. It’s saggy. See pics.

Feels like mis-marketing

Don’t buy unless you are a masochist who loves cleaning and have a choking death wish for your 3 year old. You have to put the “beans” in the chair yourself. This is stated on the site - but buried in at the very very end of the description and just says “assembling required”. Not only do you have to put the beans in, they are made from polystyrene and come contained in a plastic bag. Whoever came up with this idea obviously didn’t pay attention in school physics - since any attempt to remove said beans from the plastic bag automatically charges the beans with so much static that they literally physically escape your hands as the static causes them to be repelled. This makes filling the chair (even after watching the instructional video) without the majority of the balls spilling everywhere next to impossible. I also bought the chair for 3 year olds plus - anyone with a small young child will likely know have that having tiny statically charged polystyrene balls floating around the floor in your house is probably the most dangerous health hazard for a 3 year old. Do not buy for a young child. Get a pre-filled one from Amazon instead.

I received this product and was not worth the money.

I received this product and was immediately disappointed with the presentation as the beanbag needs to be ‘assembled’. The polystyrene balls is in a separate bag to the casing, and despite best efforts, it is a very messy exercise as the filling goes everywhere. At this price, I would have expected the bean bag to come ready for use. The material of the casing was also quite poor and does not have the quality I would expect for >£100. I had then decided to return for a refund, but have received no correspondence after nearly 2 weeks. VERY disappointing!

Poor Choice of Delivery Partner

Appalling choice of delivery partner. I wouldn’t pay DPD in chocolate buttons. Would never buy from Big Bertha again while ever they use DPD. Also, not enough beans……the amount you put in should be a choice based on preference, not a cheap base amount. The bag itself is good! Generally disappointed.

It’s my fault for not reading the measurements but if it’s advertised as big Bertha you would expect it to be large but in reality it’s only suitable for pre teens, too late to return it. Excellent product for children though

AWFUL

You have to fill the bean bag yourself!!!! Been trying for an hour now and still not done, tiny polystyrene balls everywhere. An absolute nightmare product. Would never have bought if I had known!

Shoddy Experience

> The plastic bags that the beans arrived in are not fit for purpose. The bags end up opening to an area 2-3x the size of the cardboard box you're supposed to pour them into - as a result, it is impossible to get all of the beans to pour out into the box and not spill on the floor, which due to their size take a long time to clean up > A lot of the beans also stick to the inside of the bag even when you turn them upside down because of how light they are - again, no mention of this anywhere and causes a lot of frustration when trying to get them out > Instructions are condescendingly brief and not helpful. The arrogance to suggest that an entire mammoth bean bag and footstool will be filled & ready in the time it takes a kettle to boil is disingenuous and a tad insulting. > No instructions around what to do with filling the cuddle cushion - appreciate it's not particularly complicated, but as someone who has never used one before, it is not clear whether this should also be filled with beans. > The filling that the cuddle cushion came in was wrapped incredibly tightly in about 30 layers of Sellotape - simply unwrapping this took about 15-20 minutes, and even then there was no mention anywhere as to what it was > Having a requirement to use the cardboard box that the item came in as part of the assembly process NEEDS to be clearly mentioned on the box itself - as someone who lives in a small house & doesn't have room for cardboard, I took apart all of the boxes & threw them away ahead of assembling the beanbag, meaning I had to use a much smaller box I already owned as part of the assembly process. I have never ordered something that had the cardboard box as an essential item in the assembly process - this needs to be re-thought (maybe you could make the width of the plastic bags slightly less than 2.5m so the beans poured better out of it, and you wouldn't even need the box to decant into!) > Not a direct fault of the vendor, but the delivery company used (I believe it was DPD) delivered to the wrong house, and simply left all the boxes outside in my neighbour's front garden. This is not normally a problem if it is a small parcel, but not a good look to have 6x huge cardboard boxes being dumped on your neighbour's property. Given your 'environmental' requirement to have the person make the beanbag themselves & therefore have multiple large cardboard boxes as part of the delivery - you need to ensure that your delivery partner recognizes the importance of ensuring these boxes a) go to the correct address and b) are at least delivered to the person's house instead of being dumped in their front garden.

Very small for the money

May be my fault for not reading properly but for £35 this is tiny and very annoying putting the balls in yourself with no instruction for how to do it

FAKE SALES.

WARNING FAKE SALES. Bigberthaoriginal Puts on a sale for Black Friday but the price was exactly the same as the rest of the year with a fake slashed price. Along with a Timer to pressure you to rush buy. Follows on with Christmas sale immediately with another timer, once again, same price as rest of the year with a FAKE slashed price. This company has never retailed the product at the slashed price. I have been observing the product for over two years on their website. Won’t be surprised if this continues into the new year ‘sales’. Don’t buy from these people it’s a scam, they’re committing retail fraud, tricking consumers which is incredibly dishonest and poor. Reportable behaviour. Don’t support ‘big Bertha original’s fake sale tactics. Support lounge pug by buying from Amazon.

Absolutely awful service it’s unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. Christmas gift ordered and never arrived - emailed with no responses and the phone lines are never ever answered and you get cut off which makes me think they are not manned. Then I got offered for the item to be sent again next day delivery when I eventually did get an email response and then they never happened - I had to email again and then got told I’m not reading the emails properly even though that’s what they said!!! No sorry once for the awful service!!! Never ordering anything from them again!!

Two cushions were completely the wrong size and I needed the right measurements and they our to heavy for me to bring to a pick up collection point and would cost me 20 pounds in taxis to goto collection point abd I have agoraphobia problems as well and I am severely disabled brain damage mental health and my pysical health these cushions were bought for my pysical health health and the sizes needed to be what was stated on my purchases and weren't haven't been well and wasn't able to send them back also I don't think they will last to long although the colour and the outside material our cool and go perfectly with my pecan leather suite and there purple pom pom colour there is 4 items I have not used tried them once and there back in the box in a spare room

It was not made clear that you had to fill the chair yourself. The box was slightly damaged and the balls went everywhere. I see no reason why it doesn't come pre-filled as both the filling and outer shell were delivered together in the same box. With this product you are basically buying yourself a problem.....

I should be paid labour and inconvenience costs by the supplier.

I ordered a bean bag. Little did I know on placing the order that I would be required to "make" the bean bag by filling the bag with millions of styrofoam balls (the eponymous beans) most of which ended up on the kitchen floor. Never again. In future I suggest you stuff your beanbag.

The beans are not inside the beanbag when it arrives (I should read the details more carefully, because if that information is upfront, I would not have ordered). The beans come in a large plastic bag, in a large square box, and the technique for getting the beans into the small opening on the cover is one that is a mystery to me. Three of us were making some progress when the plastic bag split. 3 hours later, I managed to have both a useable beanbag and a cleared kitchen floor. Seriously. It is impossible, even without rubbish flimsy packaging that breaks midway through...

An Unpleasant DIY Project with Bad Results

We might have overlooked the fine print on this bean bag, but it's got several major downsides that took us by surprise. First off, you're basically handed a DIY project when you open the box - one bag with the seat material and another filled with beans. I was honestly floored by how hands-off this product arrived. I hope this company don't sell duvets or pillows, or you'll have to stuff it with the feathers yourself! Now, let me tell you about the ordeal of getting those pesky beans into the bag. It's like trying to herd a bunch of cats! The instructions make it seem like a breeze, but trust me, it's far from it. The bean bag's filling bag has this ginormous opening, and there's no way to funnel those little polystyrene beans in properly, so they just scatter everywhere. It took my wife and me hours to round them all up, not to mention the fact that they're toxic if consumed, so you have to find all the strays of which there were many. Despite our best vacuuming efforts, our son managed to find one stray and of course, tried to eat it, fortunately we got it out of his mouth before anything bad happened. After what felt like an eternity, we finally filled up the bag and zipped it shut, squeezing out as much air as humanly possible (as per the instructions). But here's the kicker - it ended up looking more like a lumpy mound than a comfy seat. Our son, eager to give it a try, hopped on and promptly rolled right off. We tried every trick we could to mold it into a proper seat, but it was obviously overfilled. There were no instructions on how much to add or remove, that we could see. Now, we're faced with the task of unzipping it and taking out some beans in the hope we can salvage it as a usable seat for our little one. Honestly, this whole experience has been a bit of a nightmare. We're seriously contemplating returning it, and maybe we should.
