As a first time customer I found the site user friendly , clear and easy to navigate.
I changed my plans to be available for DHL delivery slot as a signature is required. I received a mobile message stating delivery had been made. I saw the van driver drive off, without ringing my doorbell or leaving any message. I eventually got through to DHL on my 3rd attempt, then discovered my wine dumped at the side of my house. Not impressed.
I ordered a vintage bottle of port as a gift for a retirement party. Unfortunately, this company uses a poor courier service and despite ordering the product a full week before it was needed and paying for express 1-2 days delivery, the port did not arrive in time. I pleaded with the company to send a replacement so that I had the gift in time but they refused, saying it needed to be returned by the courier or reported lost before they would refund me. They did agree to refund me eventually but too late to find a replacement gift prior to the party.
Don't stock and sell 20 year old red wines which should be drunk within 5 years!

Product failed to arrive

Maynard's 1992 Port had a seized, crumbly cork
I ordered 2 bottles of port. One, Maynard's 1992, had a seized cork which crumbled at the first attempt to remove it. I then managed to extract it bit by bit, in about 30 pieces altogether, and having to push in the final part. I have tried filtering the emails but small particles of cork still appear in the port. I have photos.

Dear Richard,
A fragile cork is very common with older bottles, where the liquid has been in contact with cork for a long period of time. We recommend that the pieces of cork should be strained as part of the decanting process, this can be done using a muslin cloth which will not allow any small fragments or sediment through. These recommendations are reiterated inside the booklet that comes with the bottle.

Delivery came a lot quicker than the estimated time (By nearly 5 days!) so my gift arrived too early, before the receivers birthday. They also didn't include the gift note which then ruined the premise behind the gift and the receiver then did not know who it was from. Disappointing.

Standard orders dispatch time can be up to five working days, but our team work very hard to ensure all deliveries arrive in a prompt manner. I am sorry you feel we were too efficient in the instance and that this was deserving of a one star review.
In regards to the gift note, I have confirmed with the packing team that none were left behind on the date of dispatch. We send every wine with a card that is tied around the neck of the bottle; your gift message will have been included inside this. Unfortunately, we were not contacted regarding this issue at all and we were not given the option to rectify this for you. Dear Markus, thank you for taking the time to leave us with a review. However, we do not believe this accurately reflects the situation. Upon tracking your order I can see delivery was attempted the next working day however DHL could not gain access to the property, this also occurred on the next delivery attempt. Since then you have requested delivery to your local service point, which has resulted in a slight delay in the depot while they amended the address label for you. In regards to your comment that you have not received a response from our customer service team, having looked under your email address we can only see one email coming through from you which was on Saturday the 5th at 10:59am.. six minutes after you'd posted this review. As our office is closed over the weekend, our team has responded to you this morning and has confirmed that your parcel is out for delivery today to your selected collection point.
