Don't let the "VSOP" designation fool you into thinking this is a sub-par cognac. In my humble opinion it sits on the palate more smoothly than most big brand XO's I've tried and has far more character than the price tag would suggest. I suspect a lot of this has to do with the fact that it isn't a big-brand product (see the tasting notes on the website) and so has been prepared with a little more care than would be normal. I don't know and, frankly, I don't care. It's my favourite cognac and that's all I can say at my level of (in)expert knowledge. I recommend it wholeheartedly.
