I ordered 2 bottles of port. One, Maynard's 1992, had a seized cork which crumbled at the first attempt to remove it. I then managed to extract it bit by bit, in about 30 pieces altogether, and having to push in the final part. I have tried filtering the emails but small particles of cork still appear in the port. I have photos.

Dear Richard, A fragile cork is very common with older bottles, where the liquid has been in contact with cork for a long period of time. We recommend that the pieces of cork should be strained as part of the decanting process, this can be done using a muslin cloth which will not allow any small fragments or sediment through. Delivery came a lot quicker than the estimated time (By nearly 5 days!) so my gift arrived too early, before the receivers birthday. They also didn't include the gift note which then ruined the premise behind the gift and the receiver then did not know who it was from. Disappointing.

Turns out that disreputable couriers had attempted delivery one weekend when I was away, failed to deliver when agreed with the drivers and returned the order to VWP. VM boasts on its web page We offer a three month total satisfaction guarantee on our wines (unless clearly indicated in description - see Terms for details). If your wine is found to be faulty within three months of delivery we will replace the bottle or generate a credit note for you to spend on any wine of your choice.

We guarantee all of our wines but in this case there was no fault - the recently bottled rare amontillado Montilla Moriles awarded 98/100 was not to your brother’s taste. He asked us to confirm that there was no fault in the wine and wanted nothing in return’. Our panel confirmed no fault. As this was a special gift, we sent him a high quality wine - which he gratefully accepted.

Additionally, as we are delivering alcohol this needs to be signed for. You should however be able to specify that it can be left with a neighbour.
