Credit card fraud and ID theft troubles UK eTailers
A survey of 1000 commuters in London as well as recent articles report that some ‘tidal wave’ is hitting UK: with online retailers to blame on credit card fraud and ID theft. According to ‘Infosecurity Europe’ , 44% of people said they have suffered from bank/credit card fraud and 42% have encountered ID theft. While only 12% blamed the banks, and 28% said it was their own fault that they had lost money or had their identity stolen, the majority of 60% blamed eTailers for making them vulnerable to fraud.

In this context the results of a 2009 study of Germany’s GfK reflects that 75.4 % of all first time visitors found that trustmarks are very important.
